Mayor Robert E. Walkup
Mayor Robert E. Walkup was elected to his third term as Mayor of Tucson in 2007.
Under Mayor Walkup’s leadership, the city of
Mayor Walkup was the first Arizona mayor to sign the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement and was successful at doubling Tucson's recycling rate.
He also established the Meth-Free Alliance and Men’s Anti-Violence Partnership.
Additionally, Mayor Walkup implemented the local Healthy Tucson Initiative and the international Mayor's Global Alliance for Community Wellness.
Mayor Walkup and his wife, Beth, have five children and six grandchildren. He enjoys astronomy, classical history and is an avid cyclist.
